How to follow up with past clients in Jobber and keep them coming back

Detailers, cleaners, lawn and pool pros all live on repeat work. Jobber gives you two built-in ways to find clients who stopped booking. Here’s how each one works, what it misses, and how to reach every client when they are late.

Checked October 2026. Jobber sometimes changes its menus.

The short answer

  • Re-engage past clients is an automated email campaign. You pick how long after the last job it sends.
  • The Client Re-Engagement Report lists clients who haven’t had a job closed in the last 12 months.
  • Both use one timing for everyone. Your clients don’t all come back on the same schedule.

Set up the Re-engage past clients campaign

Campaigns are marketing emails, part of Jobber’s Marketing Suite, which Jobber says is available on all plans except Lite. The Re-engage template emails a client a set time after their last job, and only if they have no upcoming work scheduled.

  1. 1

    Start a new campaign

In the side menu, click Marketing, then Campaigns, then New Campaign. Choose the Re-engage past clients template.

  2. 2

    Set the timing and rules

In the automation rules, pick how long after a client’s last job the email should go out. Use the + icon to narrow it by client tags, line items or job type (recurring or one-off).

  3. 3

Write it and turn it on

Click Continue to Content and write a short, personal note. Then click Review Campaign and verify your email with the code Jobber sends you.

Good to know

  • It only reaches clients from the day you create it onward, not clients who already went quiet.
  • It sends email to each client’s primary email address.
  • Clients who unsubscribe stop getting campaigns. Quotes and invoices still reach them.

Find clients who already stopped booking

For clients who went quiet before your campaign existed, use the Client Re-Engagement Report. Go to Insights, then Reports, then Client Reports. It lists clients who haven’t had a job closed in the last 12 months, with their phone number and the date of their last completed job.

Jobber notes that a client on an ongoing recurring job that hasn’t been closed yet may still show up, so check before you reach out (Jobber Help Center).

Where one timing falls short

You can build a campaign per service with line item rules, which helps. But clients on the same service still keep different schedules. Take a 60-day campaign:

Books every 2 weeks

By day 60 they’ve missed four visits. The email arrives more than six weeks after they were due.

Books every 3 months

At day 60 they aren’t even due yet. A “we miss you” now lands too early.

The 12-month report has the same problem, only bigger: by the time a monthly client shows up there, they’ve skipped about a year of visits. The fix is to judge each client by their own history and reach out when they are late.

Judged by each client’s own rhythm

How many of your Jobber clients are past their usual visit?

Export your Visits report and drop it into the free Leak Check. You’ll see how many regulars are past their own usual visit and what they used to spend with you. No account or card needed, and your file is read once, then thrown away.

  1. In Jobber, go to Insights, then Reports, then Visits (under Work reports).
  2. Set the date range to the last 12 months or longer.
  3. Click Export to CSV. Jobber emails the file to the address you log in with.

You need admin access, or permission to see reports and pricing (Jobber Help Center).

Common questions

Does Jobber have an automatic follow-up for past clients?

Yes. The Re-engage past clients campaign emails clients a set time after their last job, as long as they have no upcoming work scheduled. Jobber says Campaigns are part of its Marketing Suite, available on all plans except Lite.

Can the Re-engage campaign reach clients who already stopped booking?

Not on its own. Jobber says automated triggers only apply from the moment the campaign is created onward. For clients who went quiet before that, use the Client Re-Engagement Report and reach out yourself.

How do I see which Jobber clients haven’t booked in a while?

Go to Insights, then Reports, then Client Reports, and open the Client Re-Engagement Report. It lists clients who haven’t had a job closed in the last 12 months.

Why does one timing miss some clients?

Clients come back on different schedules, even for the same service. A client who books every two weeks and hasn’t been back in five weeks has already missed two visits, while a quarterly client at five weeks isn’t due yet. One timing treats them the same.

Do I have to stop using Jobber’s campaigns?

No. Keep using the Jobber tools you like. Keptix works alongside Jobber and shows who is slipping, judged by each client’s own history.
